VRS shorter gear stick

Featured Replies

Hi all, just had a thought, has anyone fitted/modifed to create a shorter gear stick form a golf or a scirocco at all? I just think the one in the VRS looks a bit long for a "sporty" car, or is this just me? I realise you can get short shifters, but why not a shorter stick?

Thoughts anyone? Ta!!

Im sure a lot of people use a audi tts kit for a short shifter.

Do a search a few folk including my self just cut it shorter. Take the knob and gaiter off and i used a junior hack saw and took an inch and a half off a five minute job and does give the shorter sporty look i was after.

Good plan wilson! I take it the gear know doesn't screw on like other cars then? Got any pics of yours now its shorter?

A short shifter doesn't mean a shorter gear stick! It shortens the throw of the gears. Few people use an Audi sline knob which looks better, is nicer to use and does shorten the stick a touch. I really fancy a Black Forest Industries knob but £100 is pretty pricey!

Dont have any pics at the moment no doesnt screw on theres a metal clip that holds it on. If you lift the gaitor up above the knob it can be opened with a screw driver then once youve cut the shifter shorter use pliers or tile cutter pliers work best to clamp it back on.

I replaced my gear stick with a Audi S4 ones and its shorter than the original
