Fabia vrs Mk1 Turbo check?

Featured Replies

Hey, i was wondeing if anyone could tell me any possible ways to check if the turbo is on its way out.. without actually taking it off and having a look?

Check for excessive smoke, oil in boost pipes (there will be quite a bit anyway) or play in the compressor shaft.

Also check on the state of the compressor blades

without taking it apart look for excessive smoke (grey/blue) as said and also listen for howling/siren noises from the turbo

Mine sounded like a siren but put a new map sensor on the other day and cleaned my egr out at the same and now it sounds like a supercharger, it's quite a guilty pleasure being in boost with the sound it makes however is know it cannot be healthy for it.

Agree with above not a lot you can do with at least looking or having some obtrusive work to do.

A good quick easy test is see if its overboosting first with vagcom etc - you'd be suprised how many are out there and this is one aspect that shortens there life a little.

Mine was over boosting like a mother ducker when faboka checked mine before he mapped it, it did have a decat on but even so I was surprised at how much it over boosted. All running bang on now it's been mapped
