Hockey puck jack adaptors

Featured Replies

Okay, so we all know they work, does anyone have any relatively definitive dimensions for the size of cut I should be making in them when I get a pair for about £3 shortly?

Seen them pre-cut on ebay, but the grooves available are all manner of sizes and I might as well just get them myself and do it as it's hardly rocket science, but just wondered if anyone's tinkered enough to find the ideal depth/width for an octy? Was just gonna mirror the scissor jack shape if no-one knows.

Half Way through and 20 mm wide

Did mine on a milling machine at work

Wow, that's quite wide. The one's I've seen on ebay, including the one you put a link to on another thread are about 18mm and I thought they would be oversized. Does a slot that size fit over the sill edge like a glove, not too narrow to grip it, not too wide to slip around, or is it simply so big that it'll fit however you wind it up? Just wondering cos I'm betting a closer fit would be better than a sloppy one, if you get my drift.

The slot has to have clearance, the vehicle does not jack up absolutely vetical.

Guys, the slot doesn't need to be precise, certainly not to within a couple of millimetres.

When the puck has the weight of the car on it there is a degree of deformation and it moves to fit the shape of the sill.

All cars are different too as the under seal varies in width quite considerably around the jacking points.

Unless you have access to a milling machine you'll be cutting the groove with a hack saw or grinder which won't allow for any degree of accuracy.

As above simply cut an approx 20mm channel or if you prefer measure the with of the head on the supplied scissor jack or use a set of callipers to measure the widest point of the sill on your car around the jacking points.

Check the size of the sill and adjust the slot until it fits. Did that on mine and have never had an issue.

20mm is just a guess..Maybe 18 to 20mm and it will be perfect

Anyone got a link for best place to order a couple of pucks?

Isn't the elliptical plate at the rear that's held on with two bolts and has a domed centre and a hole suitable to use for jacking/axle stands with just a small block of wood?

Is that the part where the trailing arm attaches to the underside under the passenger door towards the end of the sill? If so then yes that's what i use to jack up the rear and have had no issues. The jack I use has a large rubber head so no need to use a block of wood.
