Anyone near Glasgow with a VCDS?

Cut and pasted from General Maintenance forum:

I have placed the post below on the Yeti forum but no replies yet. The background is that my glow plug warning light started to flash recently and engine power reduced considerably. Initially fixed by switching ignition on and off but then Exhaust Warning light came on permanently and engine well down on power all the time.

"Independent garage said that Turbo was not cutting in but they did not think it was faulty- more likely that computer was not allowing it to operate because of a DPF sensor problem. They suggested that I contact a Skoda dealer for a full diagnostic and made no charge..

Managed to get it booked in this morning to a Skoda dealer. They "carried out guided fault finding via Odis for warning lights on, fault logged for boost control valve on turbo. Repair kit is required for turbo as per TPI £285.59 inc"

They did not have the parts but charged me £78 for the diagnostic check..

Not sure whether to follow latest advice. All warning lights are out now, bit engine still well down on power.

Comments?"

My own thoughts are that cleaning the Turbo vanes with Innotec Turbo cleaning kit would be worth trying before replacing lots of bits but comments from anyone else with the 2 litre CR Turbodiesel or similar would be much appreciated.

Find a local member with VCDS and get them to do a scan for you.

Did you get a print out from Skoda when the did the diagnostic?
