hello there, in my 1998 1.9 pickup when i am going along i feel it lose power then gain in back, you notice it more when going a constant speed. sometimes on hill i normally can just cruise up in 5th i have to drop down to 3rd! it driving me potty cus i cant find the problem just done fuel filter and air filter used at least 6 bottles of redex had new glow plugs 6 months ago and now becuse it is cold finding it hard to start and just say you give it some beans round the block then stop it will cut out sometimes not all the time. put as much info i can put down. just really anoying me about the power loss. took to the garage and they just look at me with a blank face :/ oh a i went to the skoda for parts for my sloppy gear stick and the diagram is not my gear stick so went back and they said it was the only one they have. garage said these parts dont go with my gear stick. grr

Blank it off! When you get it apart, use the gasket as a template and cut an aluminium blanking plate. When you get a chance, take the plastic airbox off (the manifold) and scoop out all the sh1te which will have acumulated there. This may not necessarily be the problem. but you can at least tick it off and it should free up one or two (currently strangled!)horses. There is a thread with pictures on here somewhere.
