How many phones?

Featured Replies

Probably a stupid question but how many phones can you connect at one time to bluetooth?

I have two phones, a company phone and a personal one.  At the moment I have a Parrot kit which can only connect one, and my personal phone is connected.  I just ignore my company phone if it rings.

I know some kits can have two attached so I just wondered is standard bluetooth can get two?

One!

Yeah just the one. Pretty cr@pto be honest. I had a motorola kit I fitted toy previous car and it could cope with 2 active phones. Handy if there's and I were in the car as you could pick music from either as well as get calls from both.

You can have two different phones on the different profiles (handsfree / ad2p ie music) but you can't connect two phone to handsfree at the same time.

Annoyingly there doesn't seem to be an easy way to switch between phones either,  in some VAG cars I've driven there was a "user" option on the maxidot that seemed to allow you to easily choose.  In the Skoda it just picks the last phone it was connected to if it's in range and then goes on from there which is very annoying if swmbo has taken the car shopping and then I'm giving her a lift the next morning.

Is a Dual SIM phone an option perhaps?

I think you can just tap the phone name on the main screen and toggle them. Will check later!

Even on dual sim phones you usually can only use one sim at a time

Yes but the bluetooth has nothing to do with the sim surely ? This is down to the phone name for example.

I'm replying to what seems to be needing to connect 2 phones at the same time.

If it's total numbers, I've got 5 phones paired on the work car and can switch between them, but our Touran can only remember 3 before it prompts you to delete another handset

Not sure dual sim is the way to go.  I like the idea of two phones, 1 for work, 1 for private.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to do it so I just have to keep ignoring the Company one!!  Oh well.

Seems like I should ignore the company phone in future anyway, new policy effective today says I must never use phone whilst driving even hands free!

That is the official policy of most companies anyway, then if you crash/run someone over whilst on the handsfree phone for work they have absolved themselves of all liability, as you have breached the company policy.

Try telling that to your manager though when you have spent hours ignoring their calls  :giggle:
