Unheard of - poor heater performance?

Now the PID has decided to wake up, i've been keeping an eye on the temperature gauge where possible.  With an ambient of 7 degrees today, we were driving around for around 10 minutes and the temperature was only sat at 80 degrees with the heater on max.  It did finally creep up to 90 but seemed a damned long time.

Going in to Skoda on Wednesday so we'll see if they say anything.  The Silica bags appear to have got rid of a lot of the excess moisture which is helping, but its still not right.

I drove my wife to work this morning so I could have the car for the day and I couldn't believe how long the windscreen was taking to de-mist.

I resorted to wiping with a paper towel, which I would normally avoid, but we wanted to get on our way.

Is this a common problem or just our car?

Any tips on settings, hot-cold-AC on or off- recycling or fresh air for the quickest de-mist?

Thanks

AC on (as it dries the air), fresh air, heater on max, screen only normally works for me.

Never re-circulating. Only use this when following something smelly !!

A/C will only work at temps above 2 or 5 degrees C. Exact figure escapes me for the Citigo atm.

It is also possible you also have a water leak from somewhere that could be allowing water into the cabin, creating the extra condensation

Heater doesnt really do much so I have the a/c on last 2 or so months which really helps and that is blower setting 1. Keeps the windows clear for whole journey however long if I keep it on that setting.

I have found on exceptionally cold mornings, if i have the heater (no A/C) on full and the fan on 2 or above, it cools the engine faster than it heats itself up!

ive had the car at 90 C and its tempreture has dropped after putting the heater on, while doing basic pottering about town.

Its not its best feature, but i suppose thats why on the elegance the winter pack includes heated front seats ;)

I checked ours this morning (2 deg after a good ground frost). It reached 90 deg within 5 miles of starting (8 - 10 mins) and the heater blasted out hot air

Not had any problems with mine either

Same here.

I hardly move my knobs and switches that control the heating. the heat gets turned beyond the 12 o'clock position for a quicker warm up on colder days or the fan get turned up for a quick demist. Other than this aircon on all the time, fresh air setting, fan on number 2, vents set for windscreen/footwell, which keeps it all clear and toasty.

Must say my backside gets toasty as well if I leave the heated seats on too long

Likewise I dont have an issue with how quickly it gets up to tempreture, but some times, in town driving in the morning commute on cold mornings, if i blast the heater, it will cool the engine. Anyone else seen this?

Haven't noticed that, but will keep an eye on temps to check

I've seen it. Not recently though, because we have had more than 0c temperatures. When we had -8c engine temperatures dropped quite fast while standing at traffic lights. It's pretty normal with these modern cars. Citigo's temp gauge is more accurate than many other car's gauge. That's why you can see more easily when engine temperature drops.
