Are curtain airbags fitted?

Featured Replies

In my Vrs, I have the standard front and side passenger airbag labels, but there is also an airbag one in the front 'a' pillar. Does that mean ithe car has curtain airbags or is it just the standard fit f/s one's? I cannot seem to find the answer anywhere hence thought I'd ask you guys and girls.....Cheers

If its on the A (and B?) pillars then yes, you have curtain airbags.

If its only on the A pillar only then you don't AFAIK.

If its not on the A pillar you don't have any apart from steering wheel, passenger side and seats.

Hmm, just on the 'A' that i can see, but i didn't think that was normally classed as a front or side. Is that a pillar one standard on all 2011's then ?

Don't quote me, but I think so.

Yes you'll have them if you have labels on the A, B (pre fl) and C pillars

I paid extra for factory fit curtain on my elegance. I have labels on A and B.

Thanks guys. Just a bit weird that it appears it doesn't have curtains but it's got an A pillar bag?! I presume it just must be standard then but not very clear in brochure/manual as it doesn't mention the A pillar one on its own?

I have a FL Scout and paid extra for Curtain Airbags,  I can only remember seeing the 'Airbag' sign on the A pillars.  It's a bit nippy to check the other pillars tonigh!  Pages  155 -156 of the Owners Manual show where the curtain airbag deploys from.

Is the interior trim on the A pillar hard plastic or (headlining type) material?

Hard plastic - no curtain airbags

Material - curtain airbags

Yep youve probably got curtains, on non curtain cars the a pillars are hard plastic with no airbag label.

FYI in the UK at least curtain airbags were never standard fitment on the vRS, only the L&K. Something that has always annoyed me a bit, particularly given its the quickest variant.

Yes my 2011 vRS doesn't have then either - signified by hard plastic A-Pillar trim and no Airbag label on the A-Pillar.

Also can't understand why the vRS didn't have them as standard but SUK did suck on some of their equipment option choices - like not being able to have a MFSW unless you had DSG  :wall:

Still love the rest of the car and paid a decent price compared to a GTi I guess.

Agreed all part of the cost savings I suppose. I suspect the DSG only came with an MFSW as VAG didnt have a paddle shift variant without the MF buttons

There's no such thing as an A pillar bag.  It's curtains or nothing.

IIRC you need warnings anywhere there are the charges mounted to fire the airbags.  Hence the seat labels.

Cheers guys, I reckon it does have them but even the skoda technician wasn't 100 % sure !!

The seat 'airbag' labels are seperate from the curtain airbags...

I used the seats simply as an example.  SRS labels are required if there is the charge canister present in that location.

I had similar thoughts when I bought mine.  If you look in the service book there should be 4X3, which using the link from stratosg's post comes out as " Side air bag front with curtain air bag"
