MPPS cable - interface not found!

Featured Replies

Recently bought a V13 MPPS cable for my VRS.

I've installed the latest version of VCDS Lite (12.12.0) and have installed the CD-ROM that came with the cable, this included drivers for the cable which I've installed ok.

When I open VCDS lite and go to Options, USB, Test it shows:

Ross-tech USB Interface Not Found!

USB Library Version 03.01.19

Interface: Not Found!

It shows this when the cable is unplugged too.

Windows 8 is my O/S and it makes the normal noises for new devices it's detected and shows in device manager ok.

Is it because certain versions of VCDS only work with certain cables?

I've uninstalled VCDS and have re-installed but it's still the same.

Thanks.

I had trouble connecting mine up initially as the wrong port was selected in my driver settings within windows. Think it was on port 8 and vcds only gives you the option of 4 ports I think.

It's a USB connection, you can only change the COM port settings in device manager if it's a serial cable.

Sorry i'm not too computer literate, but mines also a USB connection. When you say serial cable are you saying that it goes  "serial connector ==> OBD2 on car" as if so mine isn't (it's usb to obd2) and I had the problem I mentioned earlier.

My cable looks exactly the same, apart from the colour.

In device manager it shows up under USB controllers, and when you go in to it (Amt Flash) it doesn't give you an option to change any port numbers.

Yeah mine shows as USB and doesn't have those options, yours must appear as a COM port

I've now removed the USB driver and have found another online that makes it appear as a COM device.

I've changed it to COM2 and now VCDS Lite shows:

Port already in use.

Interface: Not found!

Am I right in thinking you can test the cable without it being plugged in to the car?

can't remember how right now but you can clear the COM ports in device manager. That worked for me.

You don't have a aftermarket head unit do you?

No, standard.

But I think it used to as the car came with a load of old MP3 CD's

MPPS (clone) is used for reading/writing the EEPROM on the ecu. Not for using VCDS lite, totally different. You need a kkl interface for VCDS lite.

Aaaaaah, so one cable for VCDS (diagnostics) and another for MPPS (reading/writing maps)?

Yes

Dodgy rip off cables are always gonna cause problems! I used to take mick out of people who got proper ones but the amount of probs with fakes is mad.

errmm duno why its half posted one then an another! Anyway watch what you buy!

Ross Tech don't make interfaces for the lite version. You have to buy third party . :)

Why don't you install the original driver then change the com port..same way I did it.
