Finance question

Featured Replies

I wasn’t sure where to post this, but as we’re looking at an Octavia III (or possibly Yeti) it seems a reasonable starting point.

To get a new car will need some finance and both SWMBO and I can claim a (small) amount of subsidy from our employer if we enter in to a finance agreement on a new car. My question is will Skoda only accept one name on a finance agreement, or is it more like a mortgage where you can both be named?

Cheers….

Jon

My understanding is that the finance agreement must be under one person only (the person who is going to be the registered keeper).

Certainly my Skoda Finance is only under my name even though technically it's a shared car both myself and swmbo pay for.

Finance would only be in one name, the only time another person may be required is as a guarantor, however pretty rare these days.

Joint accounts to pay the finance is fine.

Obviously if you miss payments it would be your credit rating that is affected not SWMBO's.

Thanks for the replies, that's clear then. Perhaps a yeti and an Octavia is the way forward.. :-)

The finance doesn't have to be in the same name as the registered keeper. My wife is the registered keeper of her car but the finance is in my name........what was I thinking!!

Did you order this car through Skoda recently? I was told recently that both the finance name and registered keeper had to be the same name and if I wanted it changed I would have to change the registered keeper through the DVLA afterwards using the v5 therefore adding an extra owner to the car.

My wife's car is with Toyota Finance but I did the same with her last car which was with BMW Finance so I assumed all manufacturer finance would be the same. I don't see what difference it makes.

I'll definitely question it then if any problems arise with my finance then as I don't see a difference either and never known it to be a problem before.
