More pics as promised. Annoyingly wish I'd spent a bit more time on the fronts now, at some point I will have them out, bolster the bottom seat bases a bit more I think, it will help fill out the stretch. I'll also try going over to shrink them more with heat.

Not the end of the world at the moment though.

I think they look fine as they are, I imagine they will just go back as soon as some warm buttocks touch them.

Cheers Joe, maybe being a bit OCD ( a bit! sorry dear wife, a lot )

but think if I eventually layer some memory foam it would definitely stretch the bases out more, and to some degree, permanently.

Although the rest of the car has done 108 thou miles....I won't keep the car forever so should probably accept some wear and tear !

Maybe a future round tuit - I'd like to permanently fix the bottom extra support bars anyway (the ones that I angled grinded off)

They are okay at the moment but would really benefit from being welded.

As I kind of bodged them in to get them in quick (partly trying to use araldite and then strong material tape) but accepted this was a bodge and they could or will move but don't expect this will cause disaster overnight.

Extra padding could work well, good idea I only read about heating them :D could be extra comfy aswell.

I just got my first seat apart looks like some bodging is needed. Think I have to drill an extra hole a side on the brackets that bolt to the base.

Looking good! Add it to my alternative interior thread ;-).

Did you give up on the heating for now?

Yep for now so as to just get them in or it would have gone on forever, its not really that cold :) If it was sub zero I'd be reassessing the priority on that !

I've got some ideas on doing a refurb mk2 on them though....

ie heated seats (just the wiring from the seats into the loom/switches), bolstering the seat bases and welding up the support bars

Oh yer forgot to say the vrs seats dont have the side support bars either like the recaros and a3 seats.

Just in case it helps, there are several ebay sellers flogging blocks of memory foam like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-Grade-Memory-foam-cut-to-size-for-cushions-seat-pads-packaging-pet-beds-/330909171408?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Cushions_Throws_LE&var=&hash=item4d0bb93ed0

I'm sure if you squeezed in a piece (maybe half an inch thick?) to match the centre part of your seat, it would sort out the sagging and be more comfy too

I'm thinking its less likely to be that now mate, more likely that because I transferred the bases directly over without really inspecting them, Although it may help a bit.

Its more to do with O shaped centre wire for the base seats - its possibly lifted out from the foam thus reducing tension at the centre foam part.

There hence may not be much wrong with the foam, but would need taking to bits, removing the hog clips, glueing back in place, then reattach for improved tension

Annoyed - I could have done that when they were out ! Oh well, its a round tuit.

Oh yer forgot to say the vrs seats dont have the side support bars either like the recaros and a3 seats.

They do but they're inside the foam, not attached to the sub frame.
