Service book no more from November build

Featured Replies

The Skoda service book has beaten the tax disc to it and is no more; RIP

Skoda have removed service books from November build on cars and now record service work on a central database any dealer can access. They can download a printout if you wish and this can be kept in a small cardboard wallet in the service book pack.

Cars prior to November will retain the old system of a service book.

Also posted this in my other haunting ground as well :giggle:

Is this a global database or just a UK one I wonder? My Yeti (LHD and French registered) is serviced by a UK main dealer who tells me that his French counterparts will be unable to access the service history without reference to the service book. It seems a bit parochial.

The leaflet I've got doesn't say if it's UK or global. It does refer to a Skoda central database but also UK retailers, although obviously a UK retailer gave me a UK customer the leaflet.

Pretty sure mind the wallet I saw in a handbook of a new Octy III indicated it was at least European wide :wonder:

So what happens after three years - when you go to a non-skoda garage?

would it be better to merge the two topics?
