Featured Replies

As title,

I fancy something a little meatier than my standard (55 plate vrs) one.

What do you guys have? Or what would you recommend?

Vcds to programme it or is it a straight swap? I've got no maxidot or anything like that and I'll be swapping the stream unit for aftermarket.

I've got DSG, so the wheel is flappy paddle too

The original was a non-multi function, so it took a new steering wheel controller, slip ring and airbag loom..........I can't remember what all the part numbers are now unfortunately, but it all works  :)

Nice, and with a Skoda badge, I decided not to go that far

Do they do it without the flappy paddles?

The one pictured above would appear to be, looks like a manual gear lever

Have a search on German ebay to see what might be about

Mine's with flappy paddles. The ones without them are more rare than the ones with them, if you look for multifunction equipped wheels.

What bits do I need other than the wheel or are they a straight swap?

It all depends what you've already got

I had a lot of assistance from the person who fitted mine

Your best point of contact is Eddie-NL

Some tips if you want to setup a Golf VI Multifunction steering wheel:

- Check steering ring, you need to have "C" ended reference if you have a pre-facelift model (just pull steering cover to check or via VCDS)

- Get a new Steering Control Unit, "CH" or "CD" are valid ones

- Steering wheel with MF buttons

- Airbag

- Steering wheel cable (you need a new one, because it connects MF + AIRBAG to ring)

-> Code new unit to tell you have a Multifunction with or without paddles

-> Adjust Steering angle sensor G85 following ross-tech alignment procedure, If you removed the ring.

Seems difficult, but It takes less than 1 hour.
