I had this problem with the 07-plate Octavia II estate and could not hear the warning sounder above about 30mph, and especially on motorways (and my hearing is quite good and sensitive!) - and a check on a similar Octavia at the local Skoda dealer showed the same issue, so that's how they all appear to be, and I suspect the same is true for other models of that generation.

 

Solution was to wire 12V sounders from Maplins into the relevant rear light-cluster circuits, and now I can hear the warning at most speeds - but a little annoying when sitting at traffic lights .

 

BTW, don't get the cheapest sounders from Maplins - they fail quickly - but buy the ones that are £3-£4 each as they seem to last.

 

OTOH, I am not sure where you can fit them on the saloons, or whether you would be able to hear them clearly due to the intervening bulkheads.

Doesn't your instrument panel have flashing green indicators?

jeallen, little dodge to try - fit two diodes ( code example QL78K) to the sounder, with the white marked ends joined and connected to the +ve sounder end, the other two diode ends connected to either indicator. This makes a Logic OR circuit, where either indicator will sound the sounder.
