My vrs clutch is slipping at high revs it's only done 55k and only been mapped for about 5k at 180bhp 297lbft is this the cause of problem or could it be down to previous owner brought it with 48k on clock (worried it's my bad driving lol)

I have no plans on taking it past this power and don't wanna waste my money on a or clutch if it's not gunna last so after some opinions

Was looking at the Sachs clutch on darkside developments website at £295 or there abouts

If the previous owner slipped the clutch during driving it will wear down faster obviously.

 

A standard clutch and DMF will take most stage one maps, however it will still wear faster than standard.

 

Don't forget the darkside website doesn't include VAT until you add shipping and calculate it at the end of the checkout.

For remapped power

Sachs competition clutch and standard new dual mass flywheel

If your planning more power go for a helix and single mass flywheel

Unfortunately both are going to cost itro £800-£1200 fitted

all depends on how it was driven before you, if an idiot has owned it it'll probably be knackerd, or if there is a bad map on it that can also destroy the clutch

Its not uncommon

My first vrs blew its clutch at 33k miles so they can really go at any mileage when mapped

Alot depends on the torque curve and how you use the power

A standard clutch and dmf can surely be had for £350 plus a couple of hours labour I'd say you'd be looking at around £550 all in. If your going to dark side, I've dealt with them in the past and they offer a great service. Give them a call they will give you all the advice you need

Was owned by an old guy for 3 years before me he only did 5k a year in it

£550-£600 was what I'd got as a rough figure for a standard clutch but just wanted to know that it's not gunna be gone again in another 10k I can't justify £1200 on a performance clutch as I have no plans on getting anymore power out of it. If a standard clutch ain't gunna do the job then I'd rather put it back to stock

All depends on how you drive the car

If you like to use the torque (i.e in 6th gear at 50mph sticking the foot down) then another standard clutch won't last very long at all.

If however you drive around the lump of low down torque, i.e changing down a gear and driving it more like a petrol it would probably suffice. But in my opinion thats not much fun is it?

Possible best option for yourself would be to revert the car back to its standard mapping, fit a standard clutch and just enjoy it for what it is.

There's really no point replacing the clutch if you don't replace the DMF at the same time, the labour is simply too much of the bill to not bother doing it.
