Whats your power an MPG?

Featured Replies

Well I know they don't really get on with each other but..Am soon to be getting a mortgage an am currently driving an S3 that does shocking MPG but its fun, So ill be buying a vRS i think and was wondering how much power could i get with "DECENT" MPG. Cheers

My 1.4pmi fabia mk1 about 30mpg but for a small car not brilliant. Octavia 1.8t vrs is about 35-40mpg thats what im getting next.

My S3 gets between 5 and 40 mpg depending on my mood.

Mines the 8p so has a bigger engine than the OPs.

Scares the crap out of me when I'm getting 5mpg and bores

the bo11ocks off me when I'm getting 40.

If I'm neither here nor there it's usually about 25-28mpg.

Stage 1 fabia vrs, I get about 45-50mpg with everyday driving. Best I've had is 65.2 on a motorway run, a bit better than I was getting when it was standard. Thank you Shark performance :)

Standard and remapped on a 300mile trip 53mpg

With a bigger blower at same speeds it got 56mpg (turbo's working less hard so actually improves mpg)

You can basically double the bhp and the mog stays around the same. Obviously if your gunning it then its a different story

:p 8L here, has yours been played with or just standard?

So your saying i could have near 200 and still have good mpg if am playing nice? Because even if am playing nice in S3 its still shocking lol. Thanks.

Mines standard at 265bhp.

Was going to go down the mapping/modding route with it but will be

doing bike test and buying something quicker on two wheels instead

of throwing cash at another car, I've learned that you never get it back

and modded cars can be hard to shift. So I'll chuck 5k at getting on two wheels

instead, that will get me a newish bike, lessons test and all the kit.

The bike I have my eye on will do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds but with a considerably

lower top speed that the car has at 130mph compared to 155mph

on the limiter in the car.

But it's the acceleration I'm after, not the top speed.

I'd need to strap a rocket onto the S3 to get 0-60 that low.

Its published figure is 5.7 seconds, but I'm not one for standing

starts in the car,it's quite a heavy old tub and the clutch won't last

long if I carry on like that.

And yes a mapped, upgraded Fab vRS can have 200+bhp and still fairly easily

attain 50mpg if driven with a little bit of reserve. And about 20-25

if you hammer it. They are great little all rounder cars and I still miss mine sometimes.

That is very true. Thats what i did with S3, i bought it off someone once they finished fmic, tip mapping it and all that other good stuff so it was a steal really, but it was bought really for a track car because it was soooo cheap but it was so good couldn't face ripping the full leather out and caging it so just left the leathers in lol. But it looks like am going to have to bit bullet and buy a vrs and make it a little quicker but i think it will be the Mrs once Ive done with it. What was yours running when you had it?

Was RR at AMD Essex at 180bhp and 297lb/ft.

But it's hard to say really, all rollers are different.

Probably a bit under that figure , but it did pull well in any case.

You'll not get much more than that from a stage 1 map without

changing hardware and I was reluctant to do that to make fairly

small gains for the outlay.

In the end I sold it (and my MX5) on and bought the Audi instead

which had specced all the things I wanted my vRS to have (except cruise)

and some things my Fabia could never have had like quattro and dual zone

climate, oh and two doors B)

Mines standard apart from this tuning box thingy. I average between 55-60 mpg over a full tank of fuel. (That's going by the trip computer)

Mine is running 226hp/370lbft

Mpg wise I get about the same as when it was just stage 1 mapped at 165hp - around 45-50mpg from a tank in normal driving. (Calculated from the fuel receipt, not the mpg display!)

I got less than this when the car was standard!!

Mines over 300bhp now and I have tracked my last 1500 miles or so of driving @ 47mpg (properly tracked)

My car does do quite a few short journies which kills the economy a little.  Trip counter usually goes nicely above 60mpg on a run, which I know in reality is likely to be about 55 maybe a bit less.

210bhp 40mpg round town 50+ on a run

With the mk1 Fabia VRS extra performance doesn't seem to hurt your MPG, unless you use the extra power a fair bit.

Even at 250ish bhp my Fabia would average 53mpg on the clocks all day which was about 50mpg or so in real terms.

Doing a trip as economically as you could would see the display get close to 80mpg, around 75mpg real terms.

Fabia vRS 45-50mpg

Worst full tank is 36, current best is 50 and currently running at 42.83 since I bought her very nearly 3 years ago (All calculated using Road Trip app)

Average of 46.5mpg over the last 15,000 miles which was a mixture of stage 1 remap and then a hybrid turbo etc.

Mine is remapped @175 hp and 280 lbs/ft... On normal driving, I get around 50 mpg and when I play around it drops to 45-43 mpg.

Hybrid 150

Round town, short trips 35-40mpg

On a run, 50-55mpg

Octavia 1.8t (as your S3 but minus the quattro and 45bhp)

Round town short trips 27-35mpg

On a run, 38-43mpg
