cruse control.

Featured Replies

Hello all. Me again :).

Got my self another octivia mk2. This one is the hatch back.

Does any one out there in skoda world know how to get the cruse control working? Ive tried to turn it on on the switch but no luck.

Also the rear wiper jet doesent work. Any one got any thought or ideas on how to solve the problem??

For the CC its probably a dodgy switch. A scan with VCDS should pinpoint the fault.

Check the pipework in the boot for the rear washer.

eeeppp. it's been a while since ive been on here!

now find someone near to you who can scan your car to see what faults are showing

On mine you flick the CC switch to the left to turn it on and depress the end button down to set your current speed, depressing the end button up or down then alters the cruise speed accordingly.

The rear wash on my vrs has stopped working but the pipe had come off the jet and was flooding the door :-(

Can you hear the pump motor running, if you can't then there's your problem - change the unit.  Might just be a blocked jet on the rear wash, sqeeze and pull the end of your wiper arm and remove, then pull off the jet from the centre, the water should now shoot up in the air. if this happens  it's the jets that are blocked if no water then its blocked or broKen pipe .  good luck

The 2 most common issues!

The rear washer will most likely be a blocked jet so check this before pulling panels off to find separated pipes.  Lift up the cover at the base of the wiper arm.  The jet just clips on.  Try the washer with no jet fitted (be sure nobody is standing directly behind or... :giggle: .)  If water fires out the jet is blocked.  I used to clear mine with a syringe to force water through.

The cruise control is most likely a dirty switch.  If I've done it right there should be an instruction sheet link below

CC cleaning is very easy. Cotton bud and some contact cleaner 15min job not tools needed other than something narrow and preferably plastic to split the stalk.

My rear jet is blocked right now too. As said usually a blocked nozzle. You can pop up the base of the wiper (pretty stiff and sharp usually) then lift out the nozzle to poke with something to clear it.

Avoid cheap supermarket screenwash since they seem to leave a residue when they dry. Tesco stuff seems particularly bad for it.

Why does the cruise control even have an on / off switch is there any real benefit to switching it off? Mine is on permanently i just activate and deactivate when required. Whats the point in the switch?

I hit the button by accident in a 30 zone having just come off a dual carriageway which was a bit of a surprise, so it is handy to be able to turn it off.

But you can cancel it with a dab of the brake Mines really sensitive so the slightest press of the brake cancels the comand with no dip in speed. Your still not convincing me there is a need for the switch  unless its proven to drain the battery decrease fuel economy and or performance you may aswell have a switch that deactivates the wipers because you can catch them by accident and have to listen to the scratching noise as the wiper blade scrapes the dirt accross your dry screen.

You can also cancel it by moving the switch a little to the right but not all the way. It does make the Off position a bit pointless. In nearly 7yr I've never switched it to "Off" except by accident.
