My new Motor ,

Well the Wife's actually :D , Pick it up tomorrow  ,

Air con front and rear , leather , cruise , 3.3 V6 auto , rear tints .

Michelle was finding the RS a bit small with the kids and all that goes with them so an MPV was the obvious choice, had a look at Galaxy , Sharan etc but in comparison they seemed a little small.

Nice, Plenty of room there then :)

Nice, will will be expecting that on the next track day then :D

Never say never :D

Steve, how manys miles to the gallon will that do in London. I am guessing high teens.

Looks like a Voyager...is that what it is? Nice. Believe it or not, this people mover is pretty damn fast for it's size.

Manny, id say 15-17 in london 28 -30 ish on the motorway , the RS only does 18-19 in town so......

Mil , 3.3 V6 Grand Voyager, 171 bhp IIRC, for such a big thing it's quite suprising :D cant believe the spec on it , electric everything.

Steve

Another van with windows. :D

Very nice Steve, I hope you dont feel the need to buy another vRS in 6 months time. The only thing that I have never worked out is why the BHP output from american cars is so low for such a big engine. Take the octy vRS, only a 1.8 but is more powerful than the voyager, My Porsche is a 3.2 Litre, so only slightly smaller, even that has 250BHP as standard.

They have buckets of torque though don't they ?

isnt it down to the technology used in the US lumps though?

sure i read somewhere that alot of the small block lumps produce small amounts of power due to them using old tech...

Used to have one of these and never managed anywhere near 30mpg. Average low 20s at best - may get to 25 if lucky.

As other posts have said the engine is typical american - low hp for its size (cos not very modern) but plenty of torque.

They have access to the same technology as we do - DaimlerChrysler (Also dodge, Mercedes etc...) are a massive group with massive resources, so are GM, Ford etc.

The American ethos on cars is different to ours - they tend to keep cars much longer, and (regardless of what the boy-racers say) the less power produced by a lump, the less stress it's under (this is the same if it revs lower). To an American, a 3.3 V6 in an MPV doesn't need to be quick - low torque, high power with an auto box and an 8k rev-range is a horrible combination and wouldn't last long on a vehicle that weight.

O.K. each to their own , I PERSONALLY wouldnt put kids in one, their safety rating is attrocious, despite their size.

Would have gone for a european make, even a RRRenault ( dirty word :) )

Ive still got the RS :D , im gonna keep it for the track .

Peter did you multiply the mpg display by 1.2 as the reading is in U.S gallons?

Steve

Not my cup of tea, but then I don't need anything that size. I'm with Steve, I would probably go for an Espace if I needed the size.

Drove a Voyager in Canada a few years ago as a rental (they're called a Caravan over there!) and didn't like it much. Well-specced as you say but it handled like a bus. Suppose that's nothing new, it is American after all

But if it does what you need and you're happy, that's what's important

Steve

Same 5x100 fitment for wheels though...
