Problem with web page text input - IE11

Featured Replies

Since recently updating to IE11 I experienced a problem making text input to pro formas on web-pages.

This is most noticeable when I need to fill out a web-based form which contains multiple text input boxes.

There's no problem making input to the first box on the page. The problem occurs from the second box onwards to the end of the page.

Basically, what happens is as follows.

On  completion of input to the first text box on the page, hitting return or tab moves the cursor onto the next text input box (As normal) on the page (Indicating that it is ready to receive input). However, when I start inputting from the keyboard, no characters show in the text box. This is only resolved by left clicking the mouse on an area of the form outside the confines of any text input boxes, then left clicking again within the text box I need to make input to. I have to repeat this Tra-la-la with to the end of the page.

Seems as if the input focus is not being advanced as normal after hitting tab or return on the first box of each page.

I haven't been able to find much on this on WWW.

Anyone else come across this and is there a fix ?

Forgot to say that the main manifestation of this is with web-based account sign-on, where you've got a user ID input box followed by a password box.

I've read some web posts that are attributing this problem to Microsoft having created new categories of input box  for IE 11 which are far more restricted in terms of what can be entered. Is there any truth in this ?

All I can say is that I've found that it make no difference whether following or proceeding boxes require the same type of input e.g. all alpha or not i.e. they are mixed alpha/numeric.

Cheers.

M$ recommend you use IE10 until they fix  IE11.

IE11 is broken on so many levels it shouldnt even be classed as an Alpha release.

Swap to Firefox or Chrome.

Then you'll be fine :)

As GentleGiant says IE11 is just awful at the moment.
