Skoda Ensurance-no brainer ?

Featured Replies

Check it Out.

What do you think?

Is there a catch -3 years free supplement too your own insurance.

It seems great and hopefully make life easier when unfortunate to have an accident.

I think it is a way skoda are trying to improve the brand even more adding this to list of:

-3 years free servicing

-3 years breakdown cover

Which to me makes me consider over other brands that don't offer this as standard.

HAVE YOU CHECKOUT ACCEPTANCE WITH YOU INSURER YET?

Yeah, a no brainer indeed. I would say no no no every time. They're parasites who put the premiums of every motorist up by underhand tactics.

See other posts on this but insurers employ their own claims handlers to try to rip off the other insurers as much as possible and I think you'd get hostility from them if you tried to use an alternative group. You'll virtually always be better off using the one allocated by your company as they will offer you an incentive such a no excess on your claim.

Trust me, if you have an accident you'll be amazed how many calls you get from these "people". In my case, my claims handlers were fighting the other persons. It got messy anyway without a third group being invited to the shockingly wasteful, expensive and very hostile party.

I'd never sign up but if you felt the need, i'd suggest that you check with your insurer that you won't be out of pocket but i'd bet that you would be.

... check with your insurer ...

Good point, but in my case it's Škoda Insurance

So why would you need "ensurance"?

Yep, a no brainer indeed, no chance. As said above, their only interest is in grabbing a piece of the cash-in pie. They are just another factor in high insurance prices.

Hmmm, now how surprised would you be if they too employed different 'claims managers'?   It's probably compulsory that you use them.

How'd you get a quote please, i'd be interested as I notice on a few posts they're mentioned as being competitive. Thanks

I was unfortunately involved in an accident December 6th last year, when my car was recovered to my local Skoda dealership they advised me to call their accident handlers (possibly Ensurance - but could be wrong), said they would sort everything for me - no need to contact my own insurance other than to tell them that the claim was being dealt by them. One month further on, my car was still unrepaired as the third party was disputing who caused the accident, so they wouldn't agree to repair cost (£9,500) as they might end up out of pocket.

Went back to my own insurance company paid the excess and got the car repaired as a fault claim on my insurance.

When my insurance was due for renewal last month, I was penalised for making the claim, although I maintain I was not at fault - my insurance quote from my then insurance company almost tripled to £900 with £300 excess. Managed to get a more reasonable quote of £500, still an increase of £200, with the promise that when/if the courts rule in my favour it will be refunded and I will be awarded back my additional years no claims bonus.

Here we are over twelve months since the accident, still not resolved, countless letters from solicitors, interviews with two police forces. Awaiting a court date - date set to be sometime in June!

Now I know that it may not have been any quicker if I had dealt with just my insurance company, but it would have made the entire process a whole lot easier just dealing with one company. So I for one will not be taking out a policy with Ensurance, as the company 'representing' me are more concerned with getting back the money for the hire car and their expenses than my £200 insurance premium increase, which is in part due to their costs and expenses.

Hey Big P.  That stinks.  I sure hope you get it sorted asap.  Best wishes with it.

They stretch everything out deliberately.  My 'claims handlers' were charging the insurers of the person who hit me £112 a day car hire and it went on for weeks.  I was then fending calls from them saying that these prices were excessive as they could get one for £40 and quoting the law which states that any charges must be 'reasonable'.  As £112 a day certainly isn't,  the guys insurers threatened that they may not pay the difference between their £40 and my £112 and in which case I could be liable. Of course, my handlers weren't interested and also said that I could not return the car when I went on holiday for 2 weeks even though the rental company had a base next to the airport.  They wanted to charge the poor guys insurers £1568 (14 days X £112) for a car just to sit at the airport because "it didn't matter". Obviously that charge would find it's way into the premiums of all policy holders.

Never again will I use any of these people.  They're parasites.  It's despicable and their practices should be illegal for the benefit of all of us. Please think very carefully before signing up for this.

I've never used a claims handler and never will. My understanding is that they're just a middle man? They basically do what your insurance company should be doing for you? It all strikes me as a "jobs for the boys" setup. They will tell you different though, obviously.

I signed up for it, now thinking I won't actually use them after thinking it through. Ensurance don't actually know my insurer's details, so it's up to me if I involve them or not - which I won't :)

That's good. Might be worth checking that you're not legally bound after signing up though.

'signing' up consists of clicking on the link in the email and providing your email address, phone number and address. No signatures, no insurance policy numbers. I think they just hope that people will call them in the event of an accident, and that's where they capture your policy details.

Thanks everyone ,very good feedback.

Cheers.

Keith

I thought these guys might be worth involving if your insurance company was being difficult about using Skoda approved repairers and parts.
