Dude, just clean the MAP sensor with contact cleaner, it should be ok.

This UK Skoda dealer will send parts to other countries.

You can't really clean a MAP sensor its internals are not like a MAF sensor.

You can whack them which is a temporary solution sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

They can indeed be cleaned, oil fouling is very common because on our petrol engines the MAP is very low in the plenum.

I dont agree sorry, having opened and changed countless Honda Map sensors and various other makes the resistors/SSI tend to go. Spraying cleaners will typically damage, MAF can be cleaned, MAP no.

If the VAG is somehow different then disregards my post.

The best he can do is check if the O ring is still present/damaged (if it has one) which typically sit underneath or check the wiring or give it a whack in situ which is temporary at best, or get a fluke on it.

You'll find it's common on VAG 1.2 and 1.4 petrols (not the MPI) due to the amount of oil vapour from the breather which condenses in the plenum, many owners report success cleaning the gunge out which blocks the sensor head.

Edit: What does SSI stand for please?

Fair enough i dont have any knowledge of VAG ones, only jap MAP sensors where any cleaning wont work or will damage them.

Solid state internals.

Technical desciption of the MAP sensor courtesy of Bosch:

The measuring element is at the heart of the micromechanical pressure sensor. It is comprised of a silicon chip in which a thin diaphragm has been etched micromechanically. Four deformation resistors are diffused on the diaphragm. Their electrical resistance changes when mechanical force is applied. The measuring element is surrounded on the component side by a cap which, at the same time encloses the reference vacuum. They are extremely robust and insensitive to aggressive media such as oils, fuels, brake fluids, saline fog and industrial climate. The pressure sensor case can also incorporate an integral temperature sensor, whose signals can be evaluated independently. This means that at any point a single sensor case suffices to measure temperature and pressure.

It is very difficult to damage the MAP sensor unless you poke it with a sharp object, spraying contact cleaner into it certainly won't harm it, a MAF on the other hand is very delicate since it uses a hot thin film element.

Ah, ok, thanks, maybe Denso make pants MAP sensors...

I know I've cleaned mafs before.

Tbh that description kinda proves my point but proves yours too.

I find denso stuff is very good tbh as is keihin.
