New seats (will they fit)

Featured Replies

Bought the octavia vRS mk2 seats I'm guessing they won't be a straight fit but has anyone ever tried? post-102182-13874574364175_thumb.jpg

As far as I know theres not been a mk2 to Fabia mk1 conversion yet.

However I can't see it being that different to the Recaro/Octavia Half leather Fabia swaps that I, and others, have done.

You'll just need to deconstruct everything and see if the bottom of the Octavia seat base foam matches the Fabia meta work, if not you may be able to trim and/or add to get a decent flush match.

More importantly will be checking that the back rest is the same size and position to be able to bolt it to the Fabia metal work.

If not it'll be a case of modifying the Octavia metal work to fit the Fabia frames in the car, or modifying the frames in the car to match the Octavia metal work.

Oki doke ...lol any volunteers??

I'd be more than happy to help if you weren't like 3 hours away :D

Looking at them they have runners either side like the fabia so they could just bolt in with some custom brackets. They might be wider than the fabia though and physically wont go in the space the fabia seats where in. The way pasty done his recaros is pretty simple though if the runners cant be modified to fit.

I'll help. Can't see where you at because on my phone.

Ps... I absolutely love the mk2 octavia VRS seats and will happily buy them from you if you decide to sell.

He's in Leeds buddy!

Pretty long way away from the south coast :)

It's a simple enough process to do.

Take off all the plastic trim, then undo the massive bolts holding the back rest on, do the same with the Fabia one and then marry the two up, to see if octy will bolt to Fabia base

I know my Golf ones and Octavia mk1 ones were exactly the same width.

If you hit problems at this point things'll get a bit more complicated.

Bring all the parts indoors and we can set up a Skye meeting for everyone to talk you through it and offer advice :D

Hahahaha. I'm up for a skype conference call!

Also i know dav_vrs and jason (devontopia) have fitted golf mk5 seats in and they are the same platform as the octavia ii. Be worth giving jason a pm as he is on her more than dav i think.

Im in north Wales so kind far away too.

Closest yet though :D

I'm pretty sure Jay went down the route of custom mounts and amendments to the shell of his car - i.e. drilling new holes in the floor - to get his to fit.

Anything is possible it's just how revertable you want it.

They are gorgeous seats!!!

I imagine it should be very similar to Pasty - any my recent remock attempt of this following his steps.

Fronts should be straight forward enough and come out perfect, as mentioned about dismantling and matching with the donor bits from seat that fit.

Rears almost certainly won't fit and some bodging/reupholstering will be required, once paired with the donors, is the downside.

I seem to have got away with mine lightly somehow, seems ok after careful stretching, repairing and trimming here and there - it certainly wasn't rushed and was done over the course of a whole week or two of evenings.

If you happen to be a numpty I'd get someone else to do because I would imagine the capacity to make it look a pigs ear is certainly possible :)

Can't wait to see what these look like mate. Did you only have the opportunity to buy front seats or did you just rule out the rears because of size or something?
