Sudden exterior light failure

Featured Replies

Hello.

I own a Skoda Octavia II 2010 1.4TSI. For the last few days I'm having some weird lights issues.

I Get a sudden message on the instrument panel that 10 or 11 bulbs aren't working (And they actually not working), although the bulbs themselves are ok.

I tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes - didn't help.

Yesterday I drove the car for about 15 Km, Turned the engine off and then on again - the failure message disappeared. This morning it came on again.

I tried to replace the battery but i didn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Yonatan.

Could be an earth issue or potential water ingress near the central electronics module. With that many reported you need to look for a common source. The wiring diagram would be useful to diagnose, I would pull a scan on the car as well to see if that highlights any particular errors relating to the central electronic module.

Thanks for the answer.

I Don't own an OBD scanner cable, so that's not an option.

Does the Cent. Electronic module located on the left side under the steering column (Left hand drive)?

Update:

I've went through the wiring diagram, and found that all the malfunction bulbs are connected to the BCM through the brown connector (ac on the diagram).

The connector itself doesn't seems to be oxydized, and the ground wires seems to be ok.

2nd update + Solution:

The source of the problem was fuse 16 in the E-BOX inside the engine compartment. thats a 30 Amps fuse, supplying voltage to the BCM.

The fuse plastic wrap was melted a little and cause the voltage on the BCM ac connector (Brown)/Pin 42 to run between 7-13 Volts.

Now i need to find the cause for the overheating of this fuse, but for now, the lighting system works perfectly.
