Octavia Mk1 Estate. Wet headlining in boot?

Featured Replies

The headlining in the boot of my mk1 octavia estate is wet. Only noticed it today in heavy rain but plenty of water coming through.
Im assuming its coming in through where the luggage rails attach to the roof, as the damp patch is directly underneath the rear fitting, just wondering if its a common problem and/or the best way to go about fixing it? Are the roof rails removable? If so would it be any use to remove them or do i need to be taking the headlining out to check from underneath?
Im assuming im not the only person to experience this problem, thanks for any help.

I think the headlining has to come out to remove the roof rails. I had a similar leak in my old car. The dealer couldn't work out exactly where it came from and ended up putting sealant on any possible source until it stopped.
