Federal 595-RSR....?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I've heard some good things about these tyres and I'm at the point where I'm about to click and buy some 225/45/17's. There seems to be two types though, one for the road and a track day tyre also.

I can get them from Camskill for £90ea....but I've found a seller on eBay that cal do them for £80ea with free delivery....

This sounds too cheap to me,I need to make sure I get the trackday tyre and not just the summer road tyre though....anybody know anymore about them,or maybe even tried them before???

Cheers

I certainly do have these and at half of the price of 888's I can confirm they are not half the tyre. In fact, when they were brand new I took them to the track and they performed really well, they do squeal a bit when pushing on through the corners but apart from that they were really good on track.

Since the track day I have not driven the Golf much but the few times I have the grip has been good in both wet and dry conditions.

I would buy them again, also my experience of the tyres are on an AWD car so not sure how they would perform on FWD, also they are quite soft so for an every day car you might scrub them off quickly.

Also a very good report from somebody who has had them on there car below

Given 70% (breakdown) while driving a Nissan 370Z (225-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
THIS is for those of you who are looking for a REAL genuine feedback of the 595RSR. There is just too many different feedback from many diversity of the general population. Each and every individuals may have different ratings and standards. What you are looking for is a feedback that will genuinely help you understand the nature of this tire from professional drivers.

This tire is suitable for spirited to aggressive drivers with performance to high performance vehicles.

Tested on FF and FR performance vehicles with REAL-TIME Professional drivers:
90 degree Cornering at 90~120km/h: Excellent
180 degree cornering at 40~80km/h: Excellent
Full Throttle Acceleration at 0km/h to 100km/h: Excellent
Full Braking from 100 to 0km/h: Excellent
TreadWear: Below Average (Can't expect good treadlife with these tires)
Comfort/Noise: Poor (Don't expect comfortable quiet tires with these)

Additional Notes:
- Not recommended for daily commute drivers (treadlife is short on these)
- Recommended for Spirited to Aggressive Drivers.
- Handling is good for brand new tires, but degrades when you have remaining 60% thread left. So in other words Excellent handling for the first 5000 miles, and becomes average to poor for the remaining thread life.

Thanks for the replies guys....looks like I'll try a set!

The car is mainly a road car so I can't justify the £650-700 for a set of R888's to be honest!

Besides the acceleration of the T1R's I had on there was more than good enough with 370bhp and fwd,so these should be fine! ;-)
