Red cars are only faster as they have to have more polish on to stop the famous sun fade!!!!!!

  • Wake up and smell the coffee! Dual clutch 'boxes are the future - so much quicker than manual. Ferrari and Porsche are going that way, Ferrari almost completely now. Does that not tell you someth

If you go for the DSG you will find the Yellow ones are faster than the Blue ones         actually the yellow Manuals are faster as well

  • Rubbish. I'll look forward to the day you get out dragged at the lights by an identical vRS with DSG (it's quicker than the manual in real life).....you'll be straight down the dealer looking to p/x

:giggle:

Red Vauxhall's are really bad for turning pink!

went for a test drive yesterday in DSG petrol estate very impressed i must say  but the thing is ENORMOUS didnt realise they where so large!!! lol think the hatch will be enough as they had one there (non vrs) and the boot/hatch is pretty large too. The DSG was really responsive and seamless but they seem thin on the ground for the price i`m paying, about 11k but one thing is ive finally settled on the colour it has to be race blue metallic!!!!! hopefully going to try one in manual in next few days will keep you updated on this as i will probably have TONNES more questions when i get one

cheers guys and gals

You do realise that the combi and hatch are exactly the same length? The only difference is above the parcel shelf.

The grey ones are fastest of all but nobody notices ...

Your obviously colour blind, all fast cars are yellow

Nah. Yellow really IS a the safest colour - more conspicuous, and RRL accident statistics / research proves this, and that is why most contractor's plant is yellow. There were even suggestions that fire engines etc. should be yellow, but apprently they found this confused the public who just KNOW that fire engines are always red.

The only snag to yellow is if there are circumstances when you don't WANT to be conspicuous!

(But of course none of these boring sensible facts detract from the unarguable perfromance advantages of red ... just ask that universal scientific expert, the Man in the Pub.)

[And apologies to the OP for taking his thread off-topic.]

Yes - true. however using paddles through a corner or on a roundabout is quite hard unless you cross you arms over! At that point you need the up/down of the stick.

IMO if they can install a tilt sensor for downhill which downshifts, they should have put one in for corners!

Try planning ahead so as to complete gear changes before entering a corner or roundabout.  It will also have to be a sharp turn before your hands need to move away from the paddle position on the wheel.

If you feel you would have to cross your hands to reach the paddle it doesn't sound a good time to take one hand completely off the wheel to use the 'stick'!

The tilt sensor is also used for the alarm.

I've got a TDI DSG and having had it a couple of months now, I can find it a little annoying at times as the box does not always make the best gear selections and it is a little lumpy when very cold, HOWEVER, you do get the multifunction steering wheel which was a must for me and I am now getting more enjoyment 'wanging' around in manual mode when in town - feels mega smooth and means I am always in the correct gear. The only downside to the manual mode is it changes into 'first' at around 6-8 mph which can catch you out on occassions meaning you rev more than ususal whilst remembering to select 2nd, other than that a much better drive. In the future I would probably go manual again, I had to buy this car though due to the stupidly high spec. Whatever you buy, enjoy :) (oh and if you go for dsg - I do find parking in tight spaces on a hill a bit of a challenge admittedly ......

White manuals are the most noticeable and quickest......... just ask the BTP ;)
