Featured Replies

just been to skoda in warrington to have my beep put on my alarm. spoke to the service manager and he said they cant do it?? i explained that i have been told on here that it can be done. he took my name and number and said next time they have the vag com linked up they will see what they can see. bit of a wasted trip really. :(

If you know or find out whats needed, vagcom will be up and running on my laptop soon, just debating a vag-com laptop with serial as I'm not paying 200 quid for a usb cable.

I have a usb serial unit...but it's a bit tempremental.

so what are you callin there for then mate?

They changed the Clutch Master a while back, since I've been getting implausible signal error codes. Tracked it down to a switch and responsible for throttle flaring, whcih I could live with...but subsquently found out it can do a whole stack of other retarding things...

If they can't enable a beep then arguably they're incapable of doing a service or PDI.

So there we have it, don't buy or service your Skoda at Warrington.

I recommend the guys from Alex Lawrie in Liverpool. Myself and TimVrs use them.

Mike I'm all setup with Vag-com. Enabled that feature on mine if you want I can do it for you.

I know it should be, but as I'm not familiar with the operation...etc etc.

that's worrying... Gorners is where I had my octy serviced a coupla weeks ago!!

Mind you, I've heard good things about Alex Lawrie (bootle??)... maybe I'll go there next time ;)

Gorner's is where I bought my Furby and have had it serviced, and they've done right by me so far. Sounds like the service manager's response was code for 'F**k off, we're busy', which isn't a particularly good way for them to do business... :thumbdwn: Have to admit though, there's an independent VW specialist nearer to me than the main dealer, and if they're OK doing my Furby's PD lump, then that's where I'll be going in future, purely on cost grounds...

Have to say I'm a bit surprised at your Gorner experience. They're my nearest dealer and I got my annual service done there earlier in the year. Couldn't have been more helpful really, no complaints at all. Sorted out a few niggles under warranty and car was ready on time, cleaned and they provided a free courtesy car. They seem to get a good rating on Briskoda's rating system too?
