So im in a pickle and dont know wether to keep my spiders or get something different so i thaught id ask what other people think on modding cars wether to keep or change?

Keep the spyders and get them refurbed!

I have had spiders refurbed. In both silver sparkle and another set in two tone shadow chrome. Clean spiders look awesome on an octy. I only went to 18 inch rims to clear big brakes without need for spacers. Also genuine BBS LM's look the dogs !

I think alot depends on the colour of your vrs as i don't think alot of wheels suit them, plus they don't seem to have the arch gap of other VAG cars,

 

I've tried a few differant sets of wheels on my red vrs and keep going back to my spiders,

 

Tried a set of 18in rs6 5 spokes but thought they looked to slab sided,

Tried a set of 17in S3 wheels, they looked ok but caught on rear archs over bumps, (altho i do like cossie's black ones on his silver vrs)

I have a set of 17in white pro race 3 wheels at moment and are still not 100% convinced,

 

Think the problem i have is that i like to drive my cars and i just like the way it drives with spiders on with original sized tyres on

In my eyes you can't beat a lowered vrs on spiders for looks,they just look so right

Unlesss your prepared to do a bit of work and spend on some decent wheels like Dsmiths on Porsches or Lloyd's on 3sdm's then I think spiders are the best looking wheel on a vrs. All these other oe wheels people try just don't suit imo.

Although I'm quite fond of my Anniversary BBS RC's

I will be lowering it and refurbing them in anthracite they are in nearly mint condition just a lil kerb rash

Mine currently has a set of 17" Audi TT wheels on it in black. Winter only and they'll be going in the new year because I don't need 3 sets of wheels.

I've also got a set of VW Santa Monica wheels which I use for track. They look pretty smart in the Anthracite.


The spiders do look awesome though. I echo above, they look best when clean. Mine were a state when I took them off.

Get the spiders refurbished and drop the ride height. And will be spot on.

IMO you've made the right choice. Keep your spiders buddy the suit the vrs really well. Your car looks quite high at the front though. Have you had new springs fitted at anytime?

Not a clue it came tgat high i thaught the same but getting 40mm spax after new year so then to refurb wheels

Yeah that looks nice imho. Mine's dropped about 30mm on standard spiders and it looks pretty good.
