headlamp upgrade

Featured Replies

The headlamps on my Fabia Sport are not very good especially on full beam .

I'm of to Halfords tomorrow can anyone suggest which bulbs would improve the

beam pattern and increase the brightness .

If you do a search on this forum there are loads of threads here with advice :-)

Osram Nighbreaker+, Philips Extreme Vision, Bosch 90 are all good, did have the Osrams but now using the Bosch 90s which are my personal favourite.

You can find them very cheap online, Amazon are the cheapest for the Osrams but I got the Bosch's for a bargain £7.49 from Europarts online when they had an offer on.

Halfords own brand bulbs are made by Ring but they're sometimes expensive so check their website first as they tend to be cheaper than instore, you can reserve them online before you go in and collect them then pay the online price.

Halfords own brand are priced at £20 for a single. Where as osram nightbreakers or philips extreme vision are around £20 a pair off the net. So becareful

I took my vrs back to the main dealer and got the lights adjusted within the top limit to pass an mot. With standard bulbs the difference is amazing. Im assuming they all have their aim set too low.

These are the Nightbreakers

Not sure what i'll be putting in my new Tech, I've used older Nightbreakers and they didn't very long at all (despite following the obv adivce re not touching the glass to prevent reflections and heat build up).  Never tried Bosch lighting, might look what's factory fitted into the 1series as I've not changed a bulb since getting it almost 6yrs ago.

Certainly going to be putting LED's into the drl's and clear repeaters into the tech, mostly for cosmetic reasons, then look to sort the interior lighting out.  Driving it home from the dealers yesterday I missed the little orange leds (?) that my bmw has on at night that illuminate the centre console area.  The fabia almost reminded of driving my 1st capri in the dark - that one had no interior light inc the dash as the wiring was shot.

I prefer the Bosch 90s to the Nightbreakers as I had the Nighbreakers replaced by Osram as they failed shortly after getting them and didn't light up as well as the Bosch 90s.

I've got LEDs In the DRLs as well as the interior lights and number plate lights.

They're coppers if you buy them off EBay, you'll need a 42mm festoon for the centre interior light and 2 x 36mm festoons for the number plate lights as well as 2 x w5w LEDs for the map reading lights.
