sd card not playing

Featured Replies

Are they mp3's?

Have you got at least one file (mp3) in the root directory as that's also needed?

Edit:- That may just be for Bolero's(?)

Assuming it can handle class 10,

Then as above - are thy in MP3?

If they are, try another card to see if that works?

Also the card needs to be formatted as FAT or FAT32, if the card is formatted as NTFS then the columbus will not read it.

Another thing is that it may have got the old firmware on it that can't handle SD cards above 2gb.

There are a lot of fake SanDisk SD cards on eBay (not saying yours is) which may be an issue.

You don't need a file in the root to get it to play.

Older Columbus units need firmware updating above 2xxx to use anything over 2Gb cards.

You need to format the card to FAT16 or FAT32 before copying files to it.

Files must be MP3's and unrestricted or locked to any specific player (e.g. iTunes).

I bought the card from asda so presume it's not a fake. I have formated the card to fat32 but it still says card error. What is the 3 button reset on the Columbus? Thanks for the help so far guys it's much appreciated.

I wana know abt the 3 button reset too!

Does it wipe out anything?

Kadvr6,

Silly question,

But did it work before (with previous cards)?

Or is this a new Skoda of yours?

Try a 2GB card, if that works then your columbus needs a firmware upgrade.

It's the first time I have tried an sd card in my car. And will get a 2gb card later today and try that one.

Three button reset = <, > & i pressed at the same time.

Won't wipe anything. It's a bit like turning a Windows computer off and starting it again.

But Thats 4 button isn't it?

= < > i

You find the equals button...

Or replace '=' with 'is'.

I was going to include the "&" as well and make it 6.

But I knew there was a catch somewhere!

He he he

Sorry - for digressing ...

Don't worry, I've only lived in Yorkshire for 5 months, but already I'm getting to grips with the Yorkshire sense of humour............

Mike

Cheers!

But I am original NOT from Yorkshire!

Damn - digressing again! Lol

I can't say anything to that -- as a Red Roser living in White Rose Land

Mike

Wait...

....I see a lynch mob on the horizon...

ROFL

Ok - no more digressing

  • 1 month later...

Was this problem ever resolved?
