Hello there

A skoda octavia 2010 tsi i own .. The stereo got bammed recently , and instead of buying a new head unit wich cost 900jod here , i was thinking what about putting a samsung galaxy tab into the dash rather than the creepy chinese dvd screens type of hu , i was think how could i do it , the power , wiring , the use of the factory amp under the seat , the steering control , on and off issue all of that stuff , could someone help me please ?

Funny enough was talking to a close friend of mine about the same thing recently , although he wanted to do it to his Mondeo ST220.But he mentioned to me that a you tube series called Amplified , where he goes on about what you are talking about , but using an ipad. As he and i are both android people ( atm) , we surmised the same set up would work with some mondifications. The hardest part is getting it look and fit stable enough in the dash. They are some videos about how he/they custom made the fittings and such.

Here is one of the links

It's a US video as the company is based there , think it would make a neat project.  They are some interesting videos .....hope this helps.

Yes i ve seen this and theyr pretty awesome ! But honestly wt am afraif of is the wiring and stuff , and then dealing with the look is dealt with :P

Well we worked out the the wiring is not too scary , you would effectively need powered usb switched or unswitched for charging and power

check out - http://tinyurl.com/nuspo6c   Then you need to decide how to get you output signals amplified.  The simplist way is to have either a 4 channel or 5 channel amplified ( 5 for a sub woofer ).  Then use a 3.5mm jack to rca converter to supply your audio output.  Have a look - http://tinyurl.com/ntqyorz       The gain controls on the amp should allow you enough control to be able to use the volume on the phone/phablet. Everything else should work as it does on a dash mount phone.

The biggest part that would be trouble for me would be fabricating a solid enough dash mount where the head unit would be. so you can clip it in and out easy.

The basic install dash board wise would be a standard windscreen mount a usb cigarette lead and a headphone to phono lead to the amplifier. But think that would make the inside of you are look a bit cab like ....sorry !

Or use a bluetooth to rca box , - http://tinyurl.com/ot2awb8   this might be a better solution to reduce your wiring , only issue would be how to power it ( have not looked into this fully , but there have been issues with sound quality using these ) ........hopefully some food for thought.  If you do go ahead , would make a good forum project. Good luck , hope this helps a bit.

As far as know the amp is built into the head unit. I could be wrong.

I have a device underneath the passenger seat .. It seems to an external amp or the blueetooth module ! Nothing is wrote there

Does it not have a code label (if it ends 035 730 it is a bluetooth module)?? Do you have the phone menu in the maxidot?

Mike is probably right but if it helps to rule it out, a bt module would look like this.

i'd be worried about someone pinching it, would be better if it was behind a flap or somethin

It is hidden under a cover under the seat usually.
