Dipped lights on the blink

Featured Replies

Hi all, got a problem with my drivers side dipped beam. Got the warming light telling me the bulb has gone, so I change the bulb, still nothing. Try a second spar, still nothing. So then I looked at the fuses and seems as though the dipped lights are not fused. This has left me a bit stumped really!

Any ideas anyone? If I can't work it out it'll have to go in next Wednesday.

Thanks all!

PS, it's a 2009 vrs.

Did you take the headlight out to change the bulb ?. If so make sure the connectors to the bulb and to the headlight are correctly seated.  Also make sure you are checking the correct fuse because I have read on the forum somewhere that the diagram is backward ?. I normally check all fuses (when I am looking for a blown fuse) with a multimeter (continuity across the fuse poles). Or you could do it the old fashioned way by pulling them one at a time and looking at them.

Also I have seen it before where you replace one bulb and the bulb out warning does not extinguish because there is a slightly different power draw between the two bulbs, if this is the case try changing the other one and you should be ok.

I took the headlight unit out of the car and double checked all the connections. The bulb didn't appear to have blown either. With the fuses, in the manual it seems that the dipped beam doesn't have a fuse!

I've just taken a look at my manual and you are right I cannot see a specific fuse assigned to it either.

I suggest you revert to the checking them all method. you could also try your other headlight on the drivers side, this will then either tell you it is a power or bulb / wiring problem. Cars eh- endless fun and enjoyment.
