Clutch needed, anyone willing to help

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I think my clutch is toast as it seems flat but the other day accelerating up a hill in 3/4th the revs went up quick then the speed caught up so i think the clutch is fooked! My thoughts are to replace with this:

however is there a cheaper option that people have used as I am nervous about getting a cheap ebay one?!

Lastly once I have a new clutch, flywheel etc would anyone be willing to help me out, i have done many things on cars however a clutch and flywheel change aint one of them! Is anyone in the Bath area willing to help me out.?

Thanks

Paddy

That's the kit you want. Don't even entertain the cheap ****e off ebay, it's cheap for a reason. I fitted this kit to my Octavia when I had it and it was spot on. Still going fine now my Dad has the car. Pedal is nice and light and I went for the lighter flywheel which didn't make any more noise over standard.

okay great,

The other option was from darkside developments. The reason for going to single mass is i want to have a map done, is it viable on a car with 122k on the clock? full service history, recent cambelt, regular oil changes new oil pick up all using VAG parts?

cheers

Should be fine, I mapped mine at over 100k with no problems.

Give these a ring, They did my clutch on my A3 1.8T and I will go back to them any day! it may be a bit far from you but they also post their stuff so worth checking out :sun:

I'm no mechanic buddy but the engine is fitted with DM Flywheel factory standard for a reason.

I've heard people converting them because of being on a tight budget and the car is sat in a scrap yard 6 months later after writing the engine off.

Stick with DM if your remapping the power will be to much for single!

No disrespect but that statement proves you're no mechanic.

People put smf on because they don't break. It's one piece of metal as opposed to 2 joined by springs so less to go wrong and if you're wanting more power smf is the way forward.

They are also a site sponsor.

My mates drifter is in the pic and they also sponsor my mates v8 powered comp safari truck. Both are running their stuff with no issues
