Newbie saying hello

Featured Replies

Just like to say hello and thought i would post up a few pics of some of my cars past and present

I brought the vrs for my wife as she is not the best with a manual car lol, and I've been pleasantly surprised with it 1 year and 8k in and the cars been excellent with only 1 fault clutch packs replaced by dartford skoda,

The oil consumption is ok half a litre every 1200 miles sometimes more some times less i check it every time i wash it and i don't see what all the fuss is about tbh (my old cossie needed topping up every day lol)

Any way here's some pics of my current car's

Niiiice collection of motors! Just abit curious as to why your "new" 130i looks near identical to your "old" 130i and they are both 58 plates?

The new 130 has black leather but the old one's got white/cream, that's the only difference I can spot.

It may be a Private Reg and that's how it has the same number, no doubt mark82 will let us know,

Yeah spotted the leather change. Good point about the plates tho - could well be a private one swapped over. The first 130i pic also possibly looks grey on my screen but not sure on that!

Just to clear up a few things , when i had the black 130i (which was a lovely clean car ) it turned out it had previous history i brought it from a bmw main dealer and it seem to be immaculate however shortly after buying it the engine developed a knocking noise so it went in under warranty to be repaired but never came back :-(

I contacted the last owner and it was not good news (flood damaged car !) he just traded up and i picked up on his crap !

However i just rejected the car and got a full refund :-)

Then i brought the m3 for a bargain price with the intentions of keeping it for a year and then selling it for the same money, however i just didn't gel with it so i sold it after 6 months for a small profit and brought the grey 130i .

The grey one is like a new car I'm the 3rd owner and its just rolled round to 29k its just a great all rounder like a mini m3 with out all the issues i highly recommend them this ones a keeper !

welcome,

you obviously like fast cars and track days, just learn how to correctly check the oil on the vrs and keep an eye on it

also check the plugs now and again

Thanks bluecar1 checking the oil is no problem but when is the best time to change the plugs the cars on 15k now and has been serviced twice ??

Also does anyone know the oil capacity of the vrs ??

there are many threads on here about how to check the oil, as it has specific conditions (oil temp and how long to wait after you switch the engine off), and not a cold dip as it is on most other cars

plugs have a 40,000 change interval according to skoda, but a number of members have seen issues before 30,000, if memory is correct normally plug 3 for some reason, there was also an issue with the heat range of the plugs in the first cars

all of this is well documents on here,

The oil capacity is 3.6 litres

5w/30 or 5w 40 Full Synthetic VW 502 Spec Min, Fixed Service, VW 504 for variable but the price is much the same.

I take it you will just stay on a Oil & Filter change every 10,000 miles or less.

Very Important, Do not over fill.

(i put in 3.7 litres and that is at the top of the cross hatch on a hot check, and the same is just below the top orange marker on a Stone Cold dip)

and you need to do a Hot Check, not a Warm Check, so car oil up to around 80*oC or more before a check.

and when you know where that shows when cold you are sorted. simple to know there is enough oil in.

If it is using just 0.5 litres for 1200 miles then fine.

Some cars were using double and treble that,

those are the worry.

Plugs might well be worth changing at 20,000 miles, and not waiting to the 40,000 mile Skoda Schedule.

But some cars have had plugs OK to the 30,000-40,000

Threads on both issues down the recent pages in the last 2 weeks.

Or just search 'Briskoda warning CAVE Spark Plugs'

or the OIl Threads with keywords.

Thanks for the heads up ! I've always over serviced all of my cars i like to change the oil and filters every 6/7k , people say this is a waste of time but i prefer the peace of mind , the vrs is on 15k now and has been serviced twice by the main dealer and the oil changed once by me.
