Video Editing Software

Featured Replies

I'm after a good video editing program for my dash cam videos. They are saved as .MOV files. Not looking for anything advanced, just mainly the ability to easily remove bits of the video and cut the length. Anyone got any recommendations?

Not sure if you are PC or MAC?    I use iMovie on MAC, it does what I need and is free.   Not sure about PC.

It'll need to be for PC (Windows 7).

I use Serif Movieplus - paid for programme but great and easy to use.

Windows 7 got its own movie editing suite.

Forgot it s name - sorry!

It wasn't abled to do what I wanted.

So I just downloaded a free editor online instead.

Exactly what I have been looking for too.

Windows movie maker is ok for basic stuff but pretty limited in capabilities.

Yeah.

I had problems trying to edit an .AVI

it does it - but didn't work proper.

So had to download a freeware AVI editor instead.

AFAIK Movie Maker won't handle .mov files.

For what the OP wants it will do the job but the files will need to be converted with a separate programme first.

Thanks for the replies. I've managed to use Windows Live Movie Maker to chop bits out of my videos. It seems to accept .MOV files fine, but obviously only spits out .WMV files, but that's good enough for Youtube so good enough for me!

I'll bump this .... Specifically I would like a free program to join my .mov files from dash cam without re-encoding. Does anyone know of a program that can do this please ?

try changing the properties of the files from .MOV to .AVI. IIRC this worked on the .MOV files from my JVC camcorder and Windows Movie Maker worked better that way.

Windows will join them no probs, but it re-encodes and converts. I am after something that just joins without any encoding or conversion.
