with all the different TIPs available, has anyone ever made a turbo intake pipe with a gunbarrel effect in the same direction of rotation as the compressor wheel? (As in internal veins or channeling to rotate the air)

I know there are a lot of ridiculous gimmicky ones for NA cars but I can see an advantage if the air doesn't hit the compressor wheel at 90 degrees maybe helping it to spool up a little quicker? I assume a bit of a swirl is established before the inlet just by the turbo's rotation itself. I'm not thinking this would have any increased volume capacity (less if anything) just that it might get things going a little earlier on.

As you can guess, I have a lot of time on my hands these days before I start back to college. ha

My concerns are that it would break and destroy the turbo

hmm...not sure you would get much reward from that as the MAF has mesh in it that will chop up air flow going into the TIP. As the turbo is spooling up it is already creating a swirl effect on the air.

 

but far play to have a go.... 

as the air is sucked instead of blown increasing wall surface area with very little extra cross-section would seem -I think- to introduce more drag     guess someone who knows will be along soon :-)
