Octavia 2 Westfalia detachable tow bar and electrics.

Featured Replies

FOR SALE.

Westfalia detachable tow bar and dedicated 7 pin electrics ( works with Canbus.) removed from my 08 VRS estate car prior to selling. I fitted it myself, not that difficult. Original instructions included. May fit other models, not sure. Bought from PF Jones, cost then £320, looking for £150. Collection preferred, in Herefordshire.post-75867-0-99784000-1388829401_thumb.jpgpost-75867-0-85985800-1388829475_thumb.jpgpost-75867-0-03333700-1388829546_thumb.jpg

Interested. And I'm in Herefordshire...

Does the electric socket flip up out of sight when not in use?

And does this require a cut in the bumper to be made? If so, how much?

Thanks.

Hi KBPhoto. Yes it does push up out of sight. From memory and looking at instructions, a small cut out was made. Certainly not visible from above. We have met, I popped my VRS estate over once for some help with Bluetooth. Any more info needed, let us know.post-75867-0-62605700-1388833954_thumb.jpg

Thanks for the extra info.

I didn't recall your user name. Sorry.

I'm in a quandary over whether to revert my Octavia to stock suspension or replace with a Yeti at the moment so will get back to you when I know. I'm awaiting info from the dealer about my car before I make a decision, but I'll keep this bar in mind for now.

A lowered Octavia with four bikes on the back is just too low to be practical!

That's ok. Have a bike rack for mine too, a Thule with 3 bikes on it. Got a Yeti on order myself with delivery early March ( we hope ). As soon as I get the build date going to advertise my car as well. Have enjoyed the VRS and nearly went for another.

I've seen a very nice used Yeti fairly local that is also a CR170... Just need to hear from Skoda (and the bank...) to see what I do next.

Think I'm going to have to pass on this as my car needs money throwing at it or needs throwing away!

Pity. And sorry.

Oh dear. Looks like you will have to bite the bullet and get yourself a Yeti now. Did anything come from the local car you found?

Yes. He's made a decent p/x offer on my Octavia, but I've just got to convince the wife that a Yeti is right for us...

I hadn't. Thanks for that , I will investigate. Somebody else been on last night as we'll so fingers crossed. Good luck with the Yeti, oh and persuading SWMBO....

As it's 'no go' with the Yeti at present, I'm going to have to sort out issues with my Octavia and keep it for 18 months+.

One issue involves the boot trim and rear bumper coming off, so I might as well put a towbar in whilst it's off!

In which case, I'll PM you about having your towbar off you.

Tow bar now sold and collected, thanks.

Thank you.

I now have the joy of fitting it!

At least the rear bumper and boot trim was coming off anyway.
