Faults 17608 & 16795

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I may have the fault codes slight wrong, but I keep getting the EML every week after I reset it, for an over boost and the SAI pressure incorrect.

Now I haven't started to look into the SAI problem as I am sure its a rivet problem and will get this sorted as soon as I have the over boost resolved.

The over boost, I have replaced the following: N75 boost control, N249 vacuum solenoid, and a new stock DV. Still EML returns the fault, can anyone advise as to what could be throwing this fault? I am a novice with engines, so "idoit guide" type advice would be great? Could it be a hose that's split??

Thanks all.

The first code does point to a faulty n249 valve. IMO, you can't really look at any other parts until the SAI is sorted out. It says incorrect flow so may be best to start there. I'm presuming you've used new replacement parts?

Bumping an old thread.

I have the following codes thrown by my vrs AUM 2005 model, 63000 kms done till date.

3 Faults Found:
17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249)
            P1200 - 35-00 - Mechanical Malfunction
16795 - Secondary Air Injection System
            P0411 - 35-00 - Incorrect Flow Detected
17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add)
            P1136 - 35-00 - System too Lean
Readiness: 0000 1101

I have, after consulting the forum and some other online forums BYPASSED N249 valve, but still, after every 200-250 kms, the CEL comes back on, and has to be deleted through the vag com cable.

Pls suggest what should I do to permanently get rid of this CEL.

I have got a forge 007 dv fitted in place of the stock diaphragm one.

Yeah start with sai as this could also sort out the leaning issue. Mine had a phase of limp mode but the engine light didn't come on until a hose popped off the sai. Sounded like a lawnmower on cold start.

How should I proceed? I am not a technical guy, though the vrs has sort of made me into one.

Wondering if N75 valve replacement would help.

I'm not the most technically minded either, I just remember those codes and info from when my light came on related to SAI. I was lucky apparently a hose had come off somewhere, my mechanic at my local is honest enough to admit it and just put it back on, it was in for something else at the time.

You could try getting under the car see if you see anything obvious/unattached. Think you just need to remove undertray to see it. Double check where the breather pipe goes into top of main airbox.

If nothing obvious you could try a new pump (not cheap) or you can bypass and delete it and chuck it in the bin. A lot of people on here have done it and there is a guide somewhere. It's main purpose is to warm the cat up to efficiency when cold, but if you don't take off like a bat out of hell before getting some temp up it will be fine. It's a possible diy job, I've been meaning to do it but have other stuff always needs sorting.

Don't know if replacing N75 would help or not, do you have any boost or running issues? Like yourself I'm learning all the time, so not sure on this one.

The hose from the SAI pump was not in its place. I found it had popped off, so refixed it to where it belonged.

The car drives fine, other than the codes it throws when driven for about 200-250 kms.

The issue is, in the part of India where I live, there is no competent mechanic for the vrs. I am confused whether I should take it to the Skoda After Sales Support team, which will cost a bomb, or try and sort the issue out myself. But with just the technical inclination, and no knowledge, and that too, after having bypased the N249 without the perceived positive results, I am afraid to try anything without support of some of the members on the forum.

Well we're always here, and if you give people as much info as you can and pics if necessary, like you've done above. People here are more than willing to help. I diagnose a lot of things through here and then either do it myself or buy the parts and book it in telling the garage exactly what needs doing. Hopefully it's worked for me again with a low boost issue I have at the moment, time will tell.

Anyway, glad you've found something straightforward regards sai! Result.

With the N249 did you do everything necessary for the system to recognise it's been bypassed? Not sure how every step goes but worth double checking. Again it could be something simple if there are no running issues. Fingers crossed!

I did it exactly as I saw in the pictures, and from whatever I could make out from the text that I read. I deleted the fault codes yesterday morning, and the car has been driven for about 150 kms thereafter. The fault codes have not returned as yet.

I feel that if the car is driven sedately, it takes longer for the fault codes to resurface.

If that code reoccurs try a post in the diagnostics section, you may get a more targeted response; some very clever people check posts in there that don't use octavia mk1 section much.
