Leather cleaner

Featured Replies

Recently got leather interior in my Fabia and just need some advice on a decent leather cleaner and conditioner.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

or if you are after a good clean, use baby wipes! They are fantastic at cleaning anything. A good conditioner will also help after you have cleaned as Chris says above.

I use Autoglyms cleaner and conditioner. The only thing that's a bit of a faff is because the conditioner is creamy its easy to get whiteblobs in the small perforations, but if you only use a small amount on a mf cloth its ok. Seems to do the job though.

Cool, cheers for the help lads.

The reviews for the Gliptone conditioner are very good, might try that.

Gliptone. Nothing touches it.

Used to use autoglym which was pretty good but the gliptone is just better.

Thanks for providing a comparion with the AG stuff- its the only 1 I've used so had nothing to compare it against, though if Chris uses it....... I'll give the Gliptone stuff a go when I run out

Iv just bought some zaino Z9 Z10 to try on my leather seats, but the bloody weather keeps stopping me from trying it out. Hate this time of year for the weather.

Modern leather is painted.

You do not need to condition modern leather.

You do need to clean it.

Modern leather has a primer, colour and then a top coat on it. (after all, how many cream, white, red etc cows have you seen).

So a nice cleaner (Furniture Clinc, Dr Leather (spray or wipe)) will clean and restore the look of the leather.

The conditioner will sit on top of the leather. But does smell nice.

You dont condition leather its a myth!! Leather is coated with a clear flexible lacquer your merely cleaning and protecting it.

Pick up some leather wipes from here

Another vote for the Dr.Leather wipes.

They also restore the OE satin finish unlike some leather cleaners that leave a shiny finish.

Would that apply to a leather steering wheel too?

I'm wondering what to use on the Citigos steering wheel.

I use the Dr.Leather wipes on the steering wheel as well .... With very good results.

Oh that's good thanks. I've got Red stitching on the wheel so I don't want anything clogging in there.

without a doubt zaino z9 and zaino z10 haven't met a product that matches yet

I went for a bottle of this after some advice. Yet to try it but when I do I'll post in here with what I thought of it :)

Not being intentionally obtuse but has anyone ever tried this on shoes?

No..or car wax :giggle:

Might have to try sealing a pair of loafers this evening B)

I used to use Waxoyl on my walking boots, excellent for keeping leather soft and waterproof, but not to get a shine.

I use Lord Sheraton Leather Balsam from Asda (other outlets, such as Amazon, are available) on my car seats. At under £3 a tub I bung it in SWMBO's trolley when she's not looking.

Just reading the suggestions, as I've never had leather seats before - how often do you think they should be treated?
A couple of times a year, or a bit more frequent?

Once a year?
