17x8j Tyres....

Happy new year first of all folks,

I am looking at a set of alloys for the Polo, 17x8j, et30-35ish (just enough to get it flush with the arch without rolling etc) and my question is two fold:- 

1) Anyone have any measurements for the standard Monza alloys on the polo (would go and check but I'm in France for the next two weeks). This is purely so I can work out the offset a bit more clinically than a Dodgy Delboy guess..

2) Looking for tyre sizes, the standard Monzas are 17x7.5j and run a 205/40r17 tyre, looking to keep the crisp square tyre profile instead of stretching (I know some people like stretch, and it does look great on some examples but its just not for me). I would be looking then to keep the rolling radius the same also, so I am thinking 215/35 or 215/40... I know there are tyre calculators out there but a little reaffirmation and reassurance never goes a miss
