Thoughts on this VRS?

Featured Replies

The TFSI engine is the earlier engine fitted with a cambelt (it has FSI) on the engine cover, the later engines are the TSI which there has been cases of the timing chain tensioner failing on the earlier engines. I think (but im not 100% sure) that the one you are looking at will have the later TSI (timing chain engine) fitted as from the interior pics it has the facelift climate controls & steering wheel & the door mirrors are the bigger facelift type.

Hi all

Been reading a lot on these forums as im thinking of getting a VRS, what are people thoughts on this

Its number 111 of the special editions am I right in thinking the FSI is the older engine and should not have the problems of the TSFI engine scare?

I have a limited edition and love it. The interior is a lovely place to be and the TSI engine is a gem too.

If you are really bothered about cam tensioner failing on it get them to change it to the latest one :-)

The LE (Limited Edition) are all the same spec as it wasn't possible to add factory fit options.

It's nice to see one with the LE boot badge still attached (they had a habit of dropping off) and round alloys (the unique alloys are very soft and susceptible to damage).

They are worth it just for the seats though!!

Hmm thanks guys don't think I can take the risk of the engine going pop due to the chain I don't have disposable income to fight/fix skoda for it. Shame but thanks again guys :)

You could take out a after market warranty to cover any problems if you really like the car?.

If you get them to replace the problem part (the cam tensioner) to the latest version it'll be fine. The number of engines going pop are very few compared to the amount of engines produced. Forums tend to make the issue look worst than it actually is as people seldom post saying everything is going fine lol.

When buying any car there is always a very small chance of cambelt snapping of camchain slipping.
