Passed my first Facelift yeti today

Featured Replies

Driving down one of the new forest lanes today and saw what I first thought was a fabia coming towards me but as it passed I saw that it was a yeti facelift.

And I have to say coming from directly in front of you in the rain the new yetijust looks like a fabia/rapide from the front just a little taller.

I was going down hill and the new yeti was climbing the hill so it did not look very tall from the direction it was coming from also it was a city yeti so very normal car looking from the the front.

I'm really dissapointed now that round fogs have gone from seeing it in real life I really miss them does not look like a yeti now.

I also overtook one in Scotland - and once I passed it found that the new LED DRLs out front are next to useless.  They are like candles compared to the DRLs (either halogen or LED) on the pre-FL Yeti.

Then I also passed one coming back.  So I saw two on the road (and one in West End Škoda in Edinburgh).

Saw my first FL Yeti today coming towards me and like Yetigreenline2 I didn't recognise it at first, thought it was a Rapide or Fabia until it passed and I saw it was a Yeti. Not a bad looking vehicle just fits the corporate Skoda 'face' and merges with all the other cars in the Skoda range. No individuality or distinguishing feature and I really wonder whether the Yeti would have been such a hit for Skoda if the first model had the FL appearance - somehow I doubt it because it was the individuality of the bug eyed Yeti which caught the attention of the testers and the public.

I think it would have been just as successful, possibly more so. I suspect most Yeti buyers bought because of the appeal of the overall package and not because of any one element. Indeed some of us, me included, will have bought in spite of the questionable looks of the pre-FL model, eg where fore and aft of the A pillar seems to have been designed by two completely different design teams who couldn't agree on how to merge the two designs.

Yes, but the looks of the original got it talked about in the general press as well as the motoring magazines which brought the Yeti to the attention of a much wider public than normally looked at Skoda's. I do think the increased exposure made a big difference to initial sales, even my totally non motoring interested brother-in-law had heard of the Yeti and its looks.
