red oil light flashing. fabia vrs mk1

Featured Replies

Hello there guys.

Had car serviced last week and yesterday the Car wouldnt start after work. Battery seems ok I think it was starter motor. So I push started it. Few minutes later red oil light was flashing and went of after 10mins . I started car again and came on again and now it stays on whats this about? Oil level and quality is spot on. Mechanic did mention something about oil pressure switch. But just wondering if anu one has anything to say about this and if they have had this problem before ?? Please and thankyou

Oil pump possibly

Whatever it is the red oil light is oil pressure! If you continue to drive it without fixing it your engine WILL expire

Red light = Very bad, stop driving and get the car recovered or risk killing the engine forever. Until it can be proven that the oil pressure is correct do NOT drive the car at all.

Find the oil pressure switch, with its single wire connection. Unplug the loom connector and see whether there is oil coming out of the switch itself, around where the electrical connection pin emerges. If so the switch has failed by rupture of its internal diaphragm. Replace switch.

So mechanic is kinda right then.. thanks alot guys for the help and advice :D

Get your mechanic to plug in an oil pressure clock and make sure there is oil pressure.

If you have being driving it with the light on and the engine has not locked up or blown a turbo it sounds like a faulty switch

Could it be the same problem as posted last week, that the small rubber 'O' Ring has been omitted from the bottom of the Oil Filter !!
