Have I got Electronic Brake Force Distribution?

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've searched but not had any luck.

The ad for my Octy 4x4 stated that it had Electronic Brake Force Distribution but I can't see it in the option list in the service book.

Does this mean I don't have or is it just a standard thing? Is there any way I can tell?

Thanks for your help

The codes in your service book are limited to just a few.

If you enter your VIN number into this website you can get a print out of every option on your car.

However, there is a minimum 5 euro cost. Another option is to ask your dealer to get this info for you. Others here may have another option for you.

Thanks. If that's the only way then I can certainly live with 5 euros. Cheers

I have a Vehicle Data print-out listing 192 option codes for my 2011 Octavia II 4X4. Ask your dealer nicely and they should do a similar print-out for you. I know from the 1 July 2011 Octavia II brochure that the 4X4 has ESP including ABS, EBV, MSR, ASR, EDS, HBA and DSR,. However the only one of these listed as an option code my car is ESP, the code for which is 1AT.

Also there is a sticker near spare tire with all option codes included in your car.

That's been covered above, its the same sticker as in the service book and doesn't cover the whole spec of the vehicle.

Grrr.. been trying to buy the report on Erwin but it keeps telling me that my card data is invalid. Weird. Anyone else had that problem?

Thanks

There isn't an option code for Electronic Brake Force Distribution so save your money.

Ok, thanks. (saving money I can definitely do) Is there any way to tell if I have it or is it just an element of ESP? I have the ESP option code in the service manual.

Got there in the end. The answer to the original question is yes, your car has it - as does the Scout, L&K and vRS variants, all of which have ESP as standard.

EBD (aka EBV): Electronic Brake Distribution automatically distributes different pressures to the front and rear brakes to stop the rear wheels from locking up under heavy braking. It also compensates for loaded and unloaded vehicles therefore doing away with the need for a Load Sensing Valve on the rear axle.
