Canton technical specification

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where I can find the technical specification for the Canton 570W digital amplifier? Also where is the amplifier physically located in the car? I assume that the Colombus only acts as a head unit and does not provide power.

Amp is under the passenger seat on UK spec cars.

Thanks, found it and looks like a proper amp so it would be interesting to know the specs.

Yeah, I'm also interested on what we actually get.

For existent 8 speakers. Is Canton just equaliser or also an amplifier?

So...not much info about Canton system (are the speakers also changed, amp output power,...)?

If you want detailed tech specs contact Skoda and get it from the horses mouth, but you get updated speakers, a subwoofer and a centre speaker for Dolby 5.1 support.

And an external amp :)

I think the OP had sussed that bit :-)

If the upgraded system is like the Bose in my A8 D3, Then the amp will be switched via canbus signals from the columbus, which in turn are sent via the MOST fibre optic databus along with the Audio in a data stream. The AMP will then have its own D to A converter before the amplifier stage and speakers. The A8 has 11 upgraded speakers, one of which is a huge subwoofer on the rear deck powered by yet another amp.

Output figures may well not be published or available, the figures are not published for the A8 either.
