Braided hoses for the 312mm & 256mm brake conversion

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Could someone tell me if it's possible and worth getting a set of braided hoses for when i fit my bigger brakes????

Would i need Fabia ones or Octavia ones and do they fit straight on with no mods????

Thanks in advance,

Dave.

Dave, braided hoses make a difference and give harder feel to the pedal BUT for standard road use you probably would not notice, might open a can of woks this.

I am upgrading to Brembo on my Golf and spoke with Ben at HEL performance  about Golf to Leon Brembo callipers, he is making up a special set of hoses to make this possible, get your callipers and call him, they were not expensive either.

Just get them made up to length, much cheaper and quicker, most places that make up hydraulic hoses will do it for you, the stainless hose comes on a great big roll and the fittings are standard metric stainless. There'll be a place near you, I guarantee it.

Just make sure the ends are crimped ends as the older threaded type will fail an MOT.  How cheap do you want them anyway? Mine were £39 delivered

So i gather an off the shelf item for a Fabia vrs or an Octavia vrs wont be a straight fit............the brakes going on are from an Octavia vrs

I am not sure, the callipers you are upgrading to are the same as what I am removing from the golf.  I am sure somebody will know if they are a direct fit.

Of course they're crimped, sheesh, they wouldn't be much use at hydraulic pressures if they weren't!

The threaded type in the pretty colours are for oil coolers, dry sump pumps, breathers etc.

and brakes, most racing and rally cars all have home made brake hoses, we have both Escorts running brake lines we made.

You can buy the fittings at Burton Power here is a link.  LINK

Also when I was an agricultural engineer we also fitted threaded end onto hydraulic hoses on machinery, they hold just as much pressure as crimped.

Here is a better link

Urrrgghh! I wouldn't trust 'em as far as I could throw 'em!

The 1970's called, it wants its brake lines back.

MSA pass then for competition!  They are fine.

Good call, back on topic, sorry for the hijack.

Ok, to be fair I've only used them on engines for the oil and cooling systems, brake hydraulics are somebody elses problem, I rarely ever get to see the cars the engines go into.

Any high pressure hydraulic hoses I've needed have been made up by Pirtek because there's always one near where I've needed it and we have an account.

Yes I am :)

I have the tarox braided brake lines on my Fabia. I have the 312 and 256 upgrade.
