Fuel consumption

Featured Replies

Drove about 200 miles Sunday, most of it motorway.  My car used Pretty much half a tank of fuel.  Is this normal or is it using more than it should??

The most I've had out of a full tank is 440 miles. So 200 from half a tank isn't far off.

That is about the same as mine.

Again, that's about right. I've had just over 450 from a tank. Slightly less when on motorways.

Just done Bristol and back from Sunderland averaging 36-37mpg as used just under 1/4 tank per hundred miles in my VRS.

well I don't get it my mpg is fine but my cts is obvo broken cus my temp gauge doesn't go over 70 most of the time.  im confused cus I thought bad cts should give bad mpg.

To be honest, as I understand it the Octy has a 55 litre tank - if you're using a half tank for 200 miles that's about 30 - 35 mpg which isn't too horrendous.

Sounds like you need a new stat though if you're not getting above 70 deg - even in the cold it should come up nicely to the mid point when warm and then stay there nice and steady. Don't know what mid point is on these but I imagine 90.

Yep 90 is the mid point, you still not fixed that issue? :)

Yeh I have.  It has a brand new genuine VW stat installed and new seal.

I wonder if there is something actually up with the gauge..
