Fitting aftermarket reverse sensors

Featured Replies

I was thinking about fitting a kit to the Octavia, but ideally I want them mounted in the black trim. Has anyone done this? I haven't looked yet, so not sure if there is clearance behind that section or not.

Yep easy job to do buddy,  I did a guide somewhere on here

took me less than 40 minutes to do.

No clearance issues

I purchased ones that were same colour as my car so fitted about 30mm below bumper trim (where the OEM ones are fitted)

In side the bumper there's some oem markings to drill piece of cake I ran the cables through the nsr vent on the body and fitted the control unit in that corner.

I normally install them below the trims (have fitted loads of kits at work), but the octy is yellow and having black sensors would look far too out of place.

Paint them before you fit them. Or buy them painted to start with.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't think about painting some. I wonder if they'll still work properly?

I did look at something like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Rear-Reversing-Parking-Sensors-Kit-with-Audio-Sound-Warning-Colour-Choice-/251244495581?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=550220752858&hash=item3a7f56c2dd I can't see the yellow being a good match though.

@rover220, I don't fancy spending that sort of money!

Oh yeah most cars have painted sensors

Buy some painted ones so you know they can take paint then a can of lemon yellow spray paint and some laquer and your laughing

Cheers for the link, I'll contact the seller and ask about the yellow ones.

Has anyone got a pic of them fitted on the trim?

These are a kit a lot of us were using during last year if it helps, I have silver ones on my vrs and are a very good colour match. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230405599727?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm570.l2736%26_nkw%3D230405599727%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

They are the same sensors I've got silver is a excellent match. Only difference is it came with a display and 2 sensors for the front, not got round to fitting the front ones yet waiting till I do the big mouth bumper mod.

When i fitted mine to my mk2 vrs i bought some off ebay & painted them myself & they work fine. Total cost was around £20 i think.

I bought a set ready painted silver for swmbo's car.

If it was me, I'd order ready painted yellow ones, then see what the match was like when i had them in my hands. Worst case scenario, I would then have to paint them anyway, but for £15, got to be worth a risk?.
