MFD Control Button

Featured Replies

Had the car back to Dealer today as the MFD control button (right-hand side of wheel) failed just before Xmas (after less than 2 weeks), it basically sticks in when pressed so my MFD is quite annoying at the minute especially when trying to accept a phone call, use the phonebook etc as it either freezes the MFD or cycles through menu's.

They said as it's a new item (have they changed the wheel on the latest build?) the parts are on back order so I'm looking at 7-10 days, not sure if they are replacing just the button or the complete wheel, it's quite often easier to replace the whole unit.

Anyone else had the button fail?

Regards

Craig

Been in touch with the Dealer today and it is just the switch they are replacing.

I had a similar probem and the switch was changed under warranty, however it did not solve the problem and the car was taken back today. The switch and loom were replaced and the garage are confident it is repaired. It appears the previous part was also unserviceable. The repair is now listed in the Skoda database and all Skoda dealers will have access, so if you have further problems ask them to check.

I bought and have my car serviced by Secialist Cars in Aberdeen and the new workshop staff have impressed me.

Dealer (Hayseldens in Doncaster) contacted me last week to say the switch had finally arrived so I took the car in today to have it replaced, expecting a 3 hour job I left the car with them while my mate picked me up and we went to look at a couple of fishing ponds we've not been to before, they phoned me after about 40 mins to say it was ready to collect, top work, hopefully it will last longer than the original.

I'm actually having same problem with that button sticking a bit. I noticed it very first day I collected the car and mentioned it to the mechanic. He was reluctant to take it apart but told me to keep an eye on it. It seems to have worked its way out but still sticks sometimes. Not causing any real problems but seeing your posts here I might bring in it and get them to order a new one. I though I was just being paranoid but seems to be a problem so. I assume this is a FL model issue. I preferred the more basic switch on my last model. Find myself hitting the voice recognition by mistake which is annoying.

Yeah it has been next to useless really since it first failed, the MFD either locks up completely or as I'm scrolling through the button would be activating at random, I use to press the voice button to try and get the opposite corner to pop out again.

I would say on mine it was definitely the micro switch spring that had failed rather than anything with any wiring.

Brought mine into dealer today with MFD switch issue.  Confirmed it was faulty and replacement ordered but they are not certain if it will work.  Interestingly, I drove a brand new Rapid today (garage car) and it also had the exact same issue.  This is obviously a factory build problem with recent models and I am sure we will see more examples!
