Featured Replies

hi guys can anyone help i have just had to have the car recovered by the breakdown people as i was driving up a dual carriageway went to accelerate as i came off a roundabout got a large popping sound and the car lost all power it threw an epc light on and the traction control light on at the same time and no power at all it is starting ok but car wont move nice amount of black smoke coming out of the exhaust when u rev it recovery guy has run a scan and said there is no fault codes can anyone please help

What engine is it ? if it's a diesel the sounds like a turbo hose has popped off.

Try unplugging the MAF sensor.

There are several engine sensors that will only cause the ECU to throw a code if they become intermittent or short to ground so fault codes can't be totally relied upon.

Could be a boost hose popped off too.

all the boost hoses were checked and he said there was nothing that had popped off

Did he check the large boost pipe on the pancake pipe? Fairly common for that to pop off.

yeah thanks guys had a good check today and yes the intercooler pipe had come off the pancake pipe so much for the recovery guy saying it couldnt be fixed on the side of the road and there were no pipes off and there was no obvious faults

i am running the toyosports intercooler is there any upgraded pipes i can buy from the pancake pipe to stop this from happening again as i had already bought the upgraded t clamps but it still happened so would like to try and stop any future re ocurrances of this if i can

all help has been much appreciated :)

Am running a front mount and the pipework starts at the pancake pipe, i popped that pipe off at blyton and my god i thought id blow the engine up with the way it threw itself into limp mode
